A story of love, loyalty, betrayal and tragedy set in a remote hotel bar in the Highlands of Scotland.

Tom McKenzie, proprietor of The Loch Darach Hotel, helps his mum take care of his dad, who has rapidly advancing dementia.

Family friend, Stella Jenkins, is a regular visitor to Loch Darach.  Since her mother left, it is the only respite she gets from taking care of her alcoholic father and younger siblings.

With four hundred miles - and family demands – between them, romance seems impossible.  Over a fourteen year period, their covert yearning is central to the joys, sorrows, friendships and conflicts that play out in the hotel bar.
